Ford began a completely new look for 1933 which carried over into 1934. The hood was now extended back to the windshield, doors were hinged at the rear on closed body styles, and fenders skirted and dipped low in front. Wheelbase grew to 112 inches and the wheel diameter shrank to 17 inches. Engine durability was improved and the frame was completely redesigned. Minor styling alterations marked the 1934 models. The speedy Ford V-8 which increased output to 85 hp was a favorite of many buyers – including the notorious John Dillinger. He once wrote Henry Ford to tell him just how much he liked the product, an unbiased plug from Public Enemy Number One.
